In this activity, I have learned News are as follows:
- I know how to analyze the social functions of news reports regarding the issues, the sasaran readers, and the points of importance
- I know how to analyze the structure of the text including headline, the newsworthy event summarized in the first paragraph, and the elaboration of the event in the following paragraphs according to the sources
- I know how to analyze the lexico-grammatical features of the news report. Here are the significant lexico-grammatical features of news report:
Short, telegraphic information about story captured in headline
Use of direct and indirect sentences to report the events according to witness or witnesses and the source person
Dominant use of past tense
Use of prepositional phrases to state the circumstances
Use of non-finite clauses to modify people or things

What I like most about this activity is reading news
What I need to improve/learn more is A higher level of thinking is also involved to compare news reports in regard to the three aspects of text. You will identify the similarities and differences of a number of news reports in the social functions, the text structures, and the lexicogrammatical features.
